The program is directed at projects conceived and designed predominantly by local partners. Projects are selected and approved by the relevant Canadian embassy or high commission. The CFLI also serves to support positive bilateral relations between Canada and recipient countries and their civil societies, by deepening contacts and supporting local endeavours.<\/p>\n<p>The average CFLI contribution is $15,000\u00a0to $30,000\u00a0Canadian Dollars (CAD$100,000\u00a0is the maximum allocation amount for a project eligible under CFLI). Consult the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bankofcanada.ca\/rates\/exchange\/currency-converter\/\">currency converter<\/a>\u00a0for local currency equivalents. Please note that all contributions are made in Canadian dollars and then converted to the local currency.<br \/>\nHow to apply<br \/>\nStage 1: Concept notes<\/p>\n<ul class=\"lst-spcd\">\n<li>Submit a concept note outlining the project purpose, main activities and expected achievements, including contributions to improving gender equality, potential risks to the project and mitigation plans.<\/li>\n<li>To obtain the Concept Note template or for questions about the application process, please contact the CFLI team at:\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:BNGKK.CFLI-FCIL@international.gc.ca\">BNGKK.CFLI-FCIL@international.gc.ca<\/a><\/li>\n<li>The Concept Note should be submitted electronically to:\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:BNGKK.CFLI-FCIL@international.gc.ca\">BNGKK.CFLI-FCIL@international.gc.ca<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>The deadline for submission is Friday, March\u00a01, 2024, at 23:59 (GMT+7)<\/strong>.\u00a0Applications submitted after this deadline will not be considered.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Stage 2: Application form<\/p>\n<ul class=\"lst-spcd\">\n<li>Only the shortlisted applicants will be contacted in late April, 2024\u00a0to complete a full application form with a detailed budget within a\u00a02-week\u00a0deadline.<\/li>\n<li>All projects must be completed between the date of signature of the Contribution Agreement and\u00a0<strong>February 28, 2025<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>General information<\/p>\n<ul class=\"lst-spcd\">\n<li>Proposals must be completed in English or French.<\/li>\n<li>Only those proposals using the designated application form and including the required budget document will be considered.<\/li>\n<li>Successful applicants will normally have 6\u00a0to 8\u00a0months to implement the chosen project depending on when the Contribution Agreements are finalised.<\/li>\n<li>Project proposals must explicitly answer all questions in the CFLI project application form, including the required\u00a0gender-based\u00a0analysis. The proposed project budget should summarize the proposed activities and associated costs.<\/li>\n<li>Budgets should detail the proposed activities and associated costs. Applications must specify planned expenditure in local currency equivalent to Canadian dollars.<\/li>\n<li>The more detailed the budget, the easier it will be for the selection committee to assess.<\/li>\n<li>Applications will be assessed for approval on their merits by a selection committee.<\/li>\n<li>Due to the large number of proposals, only the successful candidates will be contacted via email.<\/li>\n<li>Project applications are kept on file at missions in accordance with Global Affairs Canada\u2019s information management policies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Organizations eligible to apply for CFLI funding<br \/>\nEligible recipients include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"lst-spcd\">\n<li>Local\u00a0non-governmental, community and\u00a0not for-profit\u00a0organizations,<\/li>\n<li>Local academic institutions working on local projects,<\/li>\n<li>International\u00a0non-governmental\u00a0organizations working on local development activities,<\/li>\n<li>Intergovernmental, multilateral and regional institutions, organizations and agencies working on local development activities,<\/li>\n<li>Municipal, regional or national government institutions or agencies of the recipient country working on local projects, and<\/li>\n<li>Canadian\u00a0non-governmental\u00a0and\u00a0not for-profit\u00a0organizations that are working on local development activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The majority of CFLI funding is to be directed toward local civil society organizations (including\u00a0non-governmental\u00a0organizations) and other institutions working at the local level. Other entities, such as international, intergovernmental, multilateral and regional organizations may be eligible for funding, provided they are working with local partners and on local projects that are consistent with the objectives of the CFLI. Similarly, municipal, regional and national government institutions may receive funding, provided that their projects are essentially local in nature. The CFLI is always looking to fund innovative projects that deliver measurable results.<br \/>\nThematic priorities<br \/>\nAll projects must align with at least one of the following CFLI thematic priorities:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"lst-spcd\">\n<li>Inclusive governance, including diversity and 2SLGBTQI+, democracy, human rights and the rule of law.<\/li>\n<li>Growth that works for everyone, including women&#8217;s economic rights, decent jobs and entrepreneurship, investing in the poorest and most vulnerable, and safeguarding economic gains.<\/li>\n<li>Gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.<\/li>\n<li>Environment and climate action focusing on adaptation and mitigation, as well as on water management.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Gender-based analysis<br \/>\nIn 2017, Canada adopted its Feminist International Assistance Policy to advance gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls as the most effective way to reduce poverty and build a more inclusive, peaceful and prosperous world. In alignment with this policy, the CFLI project application process now requires a\u00a0gender-based\u00a0analysis (GBA). The purpose of this change is to enhance the gender equality outcomes of the CFLI program.<\/p>\n<p>A GBA will require applicants to:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"lst-spcd\">\n<li>consider how women, girls, men, and boys are affected differently by the problem their project is aiming to address, ensuring, at the same time, that the project does not cause harm<\/li>\n<li>consult women and\/or girls in the development of their project proposal<\/li>\n<li>ensure that the views of those women and\/or girls inform the project\u2019s design<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Note that consultations can include, but are not limited to, speaking to women and girls from the local community, women and other individuals who work for civil society organizations that have worked in the local community and female and male decision and change makers who have knowledge of the local community.<\/p>\n<p>Inadequate completion of a GBA may affect the consideration of your proposal.<br \/>\nEligible costs<br \/>\nThe following project costs are eligible for CFLI funding:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"lst-spcd\">\n<li>accounting costs<\/li>\n<li>administrative and overhead costs related to the project (overhead should not exceed 15% of total CFLI contribution)<\/li>\n<li>advocacy and lobbying related costs<\/li>\n<li>capital and\/or operating expenditures related to the lease and\/or purchase and\/or building of infrastructure<\/li>\n<li>civic education costs<\/li>\n<li>conference and event expenditures<\/li>\n<li>costs of services received by recipients<\/li>\n<li>domestic travel expenses, using lowest fares possible but not exceeding full fare economy class<\/li>\n<li>environmental assessment costs<\/li>\n<li>facilities charges,<\/li>\n<li>equipment rental, and\/or purchase (only when the purchase is required to meet project objectives, reflects good value for money, and the recipient has a strong\u00a0care and-maintenance\u00a0plan in place for equipment sustainability),<\/li>\n<li>hospitality costs, excluding alcoholic beverages<\/li>\n<li>installation, maintenance, shipping and\/or transportation costs, including fuel,<\/li>\n<li>computers and communication devices<\/li>\n<li>lease or rental of vehicles<\/li>\n<li>legal costs<\/li>\n<li>medical costs<\/li>\n<li>miscellaneous expenses integral to the project<\/li>\n<li>outreach, communication and information dissemination costs<\/li>\n<li>publishing costs<\/li>\n<li>radio and television broadcast fees<\/li>\n<li>research-related costs<\/li>\n<li>salary costs, including stipends, relating to the project,<\/li>\n<li>security costs<\/li>\n<li>training and capacity building expenditures<\/li>\n<li>translation and interpretation fees<\/li>\n<li>vehicle and equipment operation, installation and\/or maintenance<\/li>\n<li>website development and related costs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The following costs are\u00a0<strong>not<\/strong>\u00a0eligible for CFLI funding:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"lst-spcd\">\n<li>nuclear technologies and facilities,<\/li>\n<li>assistance to military or paramilitary organizations,<\/li>\n<li>gifts,<\/li>\n<li>luxury goods,<\/li>\n<li>direct fiscal support to a government,<\/li>\n<li>seed funding and\/or microfinance,<\/li>\n<li>core funding or recurrent costs of an organization<\/li>\n<li>expenses incurred prior to the signing of the contribution agreement, or after it expires<\/li>\n<\/ul>","protected":false},"author":960,"template":"","sector":[12,16,14,17],"expiration":[85],"class_list":["post-7422","funding","type-funding","status-publish","hentry","sector-education-sports","sector-environment","sector-good-governance","sector-labour-disability-social-protection","expiration-expired"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/laocso.org\/lo\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/funding\/7422","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/laocso.org\/lo\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/funding"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/laocso.org\/lo\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/funding"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/laocso.org\/lo\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/960"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/laocso.org\/lo\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=7422"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"sector","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/laocso.org\/lo\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/sector?post=7422"},{"taxonomy":"expiration","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/laocso.org\/lo\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/expiration?post=7422"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
