About the organization:
Gender Development Association (GDA) is a leading Gender Rights Non-Profit Association, working throughout Lao PDR since 1991. GDA works to empower women, gender diversity, and disabled people to achieve gender equity through joint action, knowledge sharing, and ending gender-based violence and discrimination.
About the project:
This project will focus on empowering rural women within the Feuang District, Vientiane Province through sustainable agricultural practices which are resilient and adaptable to climate change and natural disasters. The project aims to empower smallholder farmers through sustainable agricultural practices and enhance climate resilience of the agricultural sector. Greenhouse operation, water conservation techniques, soil management, and climate-smart crops selection activities will be implemented.
Job Purpose:
The Project Officer of Climate Change will lead the project implementation in synergy and close coordination with the project team. S/he will also support the development and implementation of projects including liaising with the Government partners. Conducting the project implementation to enable a secure, reliable, and predictable livelihood for its rural women beneficiaries to contribute to gender equity and climate justice.
Key rersponsibilities:
- Implement project activities according to the project description document and it’s indicators.
- Collaborating closely with the project team and government counterparts to prepare and update the project activity work plans and oversee the logistical matters for project implementation.
- Supporting daily project activities, particularly focusing on the project implementation; identifying barriers of their work and resolving the challenges.
- Participate in monthly meetings with the project staff to report on the project progress, challenges, lessons learned, and solutions and attend meetings/events and do additional tasks as required.
- Participate in GDA staff meetings to share best practices, project management skills and other knowledge obtained from the project and support other GDA activities.
- Working with the Communication Officer to prepare materials for the project activities and publish the visibility materials for the project and GDA.
- Support the effective monitoring and evaluation of the project and donor compliance.
- Carry out the weekly and monthly work plan in consultation with the GDA team.
- Write activity reports and update the project activity implementation in monthly meeting and submit quarterly reports/financial reports to the Project Manager and donor based on the reporting timeframe.
Qualifications and Experience:
The candidate should have the following experience, skills, and competence:
- At least, a graduate degree in climate change, disaster risk reduction, natural resources management, environmental science, global policy, or social sciences.
- Working experience in climate change adaptation, climate policy, conservation with human-centered approaches, climate-poverty nexus, etc.
- Working independently, meet tight deadlines without compromising the quality of outputs and bring your own ideas and your excellent interpersonal skills.
- Working harmoniously as part of a team in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver comprehensive written documents.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written in both Lao and English.
