Organization Background

Association for Development of Women and Legal Education (ADWLE) was found in 2008 by fifteen CEDAW Resource Pool members who work with CSOs, INGOs and government and is a registered Lao NPA in 2010, established the office in 2011. It was approved by Ministry of Home Affairs NO. 799/HA dated 09/11/2012.

Our strategy is to address Gender equality, women`s rights and access to legal system and coordinate and actively take part in working groups of NPA, INGOs and  government to promote Gender equality, reduce domestic violence, combat human trafficking and safe migration and protect the right of the child.

The vision of the ADWLE is a society where there is Gender equality, including equal opportunities, contributions to decision-making and access to legal system

Our mission is to provide training on gender, CEDAW, laws related women, protection of migrant workers, combating human trafficking and safe migration to law enforcement officers, teachers, students; disseminate and raise awareness on laws related to women, gender equality, gender-based violence(GBV), human trafficking/safe migration and child rights to communities; promote women’ s engagement in decision making on socio-economic development at all levels and integrate gender into law teaching curriculum.

ADWLE believes in a value that an active promotion of gender equality will change attitude of people attaching to gender-based stereotype and social norms and practices and provide women in engaging in decision-making and social economic development and accessing to education, training, opportunity, transparency and justice. Therefore, women’s rights will be respected increasingly.

Job Description

Position  : Project Assistant
Contract Period: 1 year (with possibility of extension)
Location: ADWLE Head Office
Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager in developing training materials and facilitating training on women’s development work.
  • Conduct research, collect information, and assist in budget planning to support new project proposals.
  • Coordinate with partners at central, provincial, district, and local levels to organize meetings and training.
  • Prepare activity and budget plans and manage procurement related to project work.
  • Support the Project Manager in creating annual and quarterly project development plans and overseeing legal assistance programs.
  • Draft activity reports and assist in reviewing quarterly reports from ADWLE’s legal team.
  • Attend meetings, training, seminars, and other events relevant to ADWLE’s work.
  • Collaborate closely with the Project Manager, senior lawyer, and lawyers across ADWLE’s three legal aid clinics.
  • Design IEC materials (leaflets, posters, banners) for training and events.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Law Manager.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Sciences, Social Work, or related fields.
  • At least 3 years of experience in social development.
  • Ability to work under pressure, detail-oriented, punctual, and quick to learn.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong communication skills for liaising with government agencies, communities, and organizations.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Lao.
