About Organization

Gender Development Association (GDA) is a leading Gender Rights Non-Profit Association, working throughout Lao PDR since 1991. GDA works to empower particular women, gender diversity, and disabled people to achieve gender equity through joint action, knowledge sharing and ending gender-based violence and discrimination.

About the Project

GDA is implementing the project “Combating violence against women and girls and enhancing their access to justice” in Yod Ou and Boun Tai district, Phongsaly Province, supported by Bread for the World (BftW). The project aims to eliminate violence against women and girls (VAWG) and improve access to justice for women and girls in remote rural and mountainous areas of Laos.

Job Purpose

GDA is looking for a Project Manager for the project “Combating violence against women and girls and enhancing their access to justice”. The Project Manager is required to deliver the effective and timely results of GDA’s programs and activities.  This will be done by using a project management approach; ongoing collaboration with donors, partners and stakeholders; supervising project staff and focusing on project outcomes and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed project plans, including scope, objectives, timelines, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure the project activities are aligned with project objectives including the monitoring and evaluation as well as support and supervise project staff on technical project management.
  • Prepare regular project reports in Lao and English as require.
  • Lead and coordinate project teams, assign tasks, and ensure effective communication among team members.
  • Liaise and coordinate with government agencies to ensure the smooth implementation.
  • Lead the project implementation and ensure all activities are implemented as plans.
  • Support and supervise project staff in their day-to-day activities, particularly, focusing on the project implementation, identifying barriers of their work and resolving the challenges.
  • Monitor and manage the project budget, ensuring that the project stays within financial constraints.
  • Work closely with the project staff to update the project progress, challenges, lessons learned, and find solutions to problems.
  • Attend meetings/events or additional tasks as required.
  • Be prepared to support any type of service require by GDA.

Reporting

  • Prepare quarterly/6 months work plan to Program manager, Director and Donors
  • Write an activity report, based on the work plan, and submit it to Program manager, Director and Donors
  • Provide an update work plan to the Director/program manager during staff meeting every Monday

Qualifications

  • Proven work experiences of at least 3 years in related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, law, business administration or a related field
  • Good analytical, facilitation, negotiation skills
  • Good communication skill in Lao and English
  • Experience in project cycle management
