Progress Report and Preparations Meeting for the ASEAN Civil Society Conference/ASEAN Peoples' Forum (ACSC/APF) 2023, Scheduled in Indonesia

The Lao CSO Coordination Committee (LCCC), in collaboration with the committee overseeing the ASEAN Peoples' Forum (APF) and representatives from Lao CSOs participating in the APF, convened a meeting to discuss progress, present reports, and formulate plans for the forthcoming ACSC/APF event in 2023, set to take place in Indonesia.

Under the chairmanship of Dr. Chansy Phimphachan, Head of the Lao CSO Coordination Committee (LCCC), the meeting occurred on September 29, 2023, at the LAO PLAZA Hotel in Vientiane. The meeting saw a total of 18 participants, encompassing 10 women who represented Lao CSOs, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the ASEAN Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Institute of Foreign Affairs within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meeting unfolded through two simultaneous formats: online and face-to-face, with 2 participants joining virtually and 17 participants attending in person.

The meeting had dual objectives:

  1. To provide an update on the progress of preparations for the ACSC/APF 2023 meeting, encompassing elements such as the host country's readiness, regional considerations, and the preparations of the delegation from Laos.
  2. To compile various essential documents required for travel and participation in the ACSC/APF event in Indonesia.
