The Laos Disaster Preparedness Partnership (LDPP) successfully completed baseline data collection in Savannakhet Province for the project, "Strengthening Collaboration Between the Government, Private Sector, and Civil Society Organizations for Improved Disaster Preparedness and Response."
The project aims to enhance multi-sectoral cooperation to strengthen disaster preparedness and response across Lao PDR. Data was collected in Kengpoun and Lamthen villages, Champhone District pilot sites for the LDPPfrom September 9 to 11, 2025. The activity focused on assessing risks, evaluating readiness, engaging local stakeholders, and establishing a knowledge base for developing community disaster preparedness plans.
The data collection employed individual interviews and focus group discussions with men and women, facilitated by an interview team that explained project objectives and conducted in-depth discussions using questionnaires. This approach aimed to foster community engagement, improve risk awareness, and support the development of localized disaster response strategies.
The project operates under a tripartite cooperation mechanism involving the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI), and Lao Civil Society Organizations, unified in their goal to strengthen disaster resilience in Lao PDR.
