Communications Assistant Intern
Cord is an international Non-Governmental Organisation (iNGO) with administrative headquarters in the United Kingdom and an operational staff team in Laos.  Cord has 50 years of experience in humanitarian and development work with communities worldwide affected by conflicts. We believe that people can only flourish where strong relationships exist between governments, civil society and the private sector, creating a space for dialogue, dispute resolution and confidence building. Cord has a presence in Laos since 2011. Cord Laos is a multi-disciplinary team of technical national and international experts that deliver initiatives to develop the capacity of communities, civil society and government. Cord works in partnership with a range of stakeholders and has a multi-donor multi-partner programme.

Part-time (2 to 3 days a week) from June to December 2024 (renewable)

Internship – daily or monthly allowance provided

Note this is a paid internship and applicants are requested to use their own computer.

Requested background:

  • Student or recently graduated students in Communication or relevant field of study
  • Experience managing or contributing to an organization social media account
  • Some experience in producing media content (VDO, photos, leaflets, etc.) and using digital technologies (e.g. graphic design software, editing software, etc.)

Key Duties:

·        1. Video Production and Photography Support:

  •    Assist in producing video content and capture high-quality photographs for project activities.
  • Aid in the editing of videos and photographs to ensure professional presentation and consistency with project goals.

·        2. Communication Material Development:

  • Contribute to the design and development of communication materials, including brochures, posters, banners, and other promotional items.
  • Ensure that all communication materials are visually appealing and effectively convey project messages.

·        4. Online Tools and Content Management:

  •    Assist in maintaining and updating online tools and platforms to ensure current and accurate content.
  • Support the creation and posting of news articles and updates related to project activities.

·        5. Media and Contact Database Management:

  •   Update and manage the database of media contacts and other relevant stakeholders, ensuring records are accurate and up-to-date.

·        6. Data Gathering and Analysis:

  •   Support data collection and analysis activities to inform communication strategies and measure the impact of communication efforts.

·        7. Deliverable Monitoring:

  •  Assist in tracking and ensuring the timely delivery of communication activities and materials.
  •  Monitor partners to ensure proper use and adherence to communication tools and materials.

Key Competencies, attitudes, and values:

  •  Computer skills (ability to use Graphic design program ie Adobe, Canva, VDO editing software Adobe Premier Pro, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct interviews effectively, capturing essential information with accuracy and clarity.
  • Skilled in detailed note-taking, ensuring comprehensive and precise documentation of key information.
  • Video and Photography Skills.
  •  Knowledge of relevant social media platforms (Flickr, Facebook, YouTube, etc.)
  • Good writing skills in Lao. Additional skill in English language is an advantage.
