IWAA helps bring income to women in Sangthong

On January 16, 2023, IWAA and the District Labor and Social Welfare Office of Sangthong District conducted a training session on how to make hand towels for women in Haitai Village, Sangthong District, Vientiane Capital. IWAA also took this occasion to provide some weaving equipment to 10 women in the village so that the community can expand its production and earn more income for itself.

Aside from making clothes, IWAA engages in other capacity-building initiatives such as handcrafting bamboo goods, weaving floor mats, and producing dishwashing liquid. These are different strategies for job creation and income generation that are being implemented based on what works best for each community. In the end, what matters most to them is that all work is done to enhance the quality of life of individuals (particularly informal workers) who have suffered as a result of the spread of the COVID-19.
