Youth Empowerment Intern (Lao nationals only)

Duty Station: Vientiane Capital with provincial travel

About LaoCYDA 

The Lao Child and Youth Development Association (LaoCYDA) is a national, locally led civil society organization  in Lao PDR dedicated to advancing the rights, wellbeing, and meaningful participation of children and youth  through locally led, evidence-based, and rights-based approaches aligned with national priorities and the  Sustainable Development Goals. LaoCYDA works in partnership with government institutions, communities,  youth networks, civil society organizations, and development partners to strengthen child protection systems,  promote inclusive and quality education, and empower youth—particularly girls, LGBTQIA+ youth, ethnic  minorities, and persons with disabilities. LaoCYDA has implemented and supported programs at national and  sub-national levels, with operational experience in Luang Namtha, Xayabouly, Oudomxay, Luang Prabang, Xieng  Khouang, Vientiane, Savannakhet, and Salavan provinces, and works closely with key government partners  including MoES, MoAE, MoH, MoLSW, LWU, LYU and NCAWMC, while collaborating with and receiving support  from development partners and donors such as the European Union (EU), Swiss Cooperation Mekong, UNDP,  UNICEF, UNFPA, World Vision, Cord, Oxfam, Save the Children, and Swisscontact to advance sustainable and  inclusive development for children and youth in Lao PDR.

Purpose of the Role 

To support youth empowerment project implementation while gaining hands-on experience in development  work.

Key Responsibilities 

• Support day-to-day coordination and implementation of youth empowerment projects and activities. • Assist in organizing and facilitating trainings, workshops, youth consultations, meetings, and field  activities.
• Support engagement with youth groups, community members, partners, and local authorities. • Assist in collecting data, feedback, and youth voices from activities and field visits. • Support preparation of activity reports, meeting notes, and basic project documentation. • Assist with logistical arrangements, including travel, materials, and event coordination. • Support monitoring of activities to ensure youth participation, inclusion, and safeguarding standards. • Perform other program-related tasks as assigned by the Program Coordinator.

Required Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, or related field
• Fresh graduates encouraged
• Good Lao and English communication skills
