Communications & Advocacy Intern (Lao nationals only) 

Organization: Lao Child and Youth Development Association (LaoCYDA) 

Type: Internship (6 months, with possible extension/promotion) 

Duty Station: Vientiane Capital with provincial travel 

Reports to: Executive Director 

About LaoCYDA 

The Lao Child and Youth Development Association (LaoCYDA) is a national, locally led civil society organization  in Lao PDR dedicated to advancing the rights, wellbeing, and meaningful participation of children and youth  through locally led, evidence-based, and rights-based approaches aligned with national priorities and the  Sustainable Development Goals. LaoCYDA works in partnership with government institutions, communities,  youth networks, civil society organizations, and development partners to strengthen child protection systems,  promote inclusive and quality education, and empower youth—particularly girls, LGBTQIA+ youth, ethnic  minorities, and persons with disabilities. LaoCYDA has implemented and supported programs at national and  sub-national levels, with operational experience in Luang Namtha, Xayabouly, Oudomxay, Luang Prabang, Xieng  Khouang, Vientiane, Savannakhet, and Salavan provinces, and works closely with key government partners  including MoES, MoAE, MoH, MoLSW, LWU, LYU and NCAWMC, while collaborating with and receiving support  from development partners and donors such as the European Union (EU), Swiss Cooperation Mekong, UNDP,  UNICEF, UNFPA, World Vision, Cord, Oxfam, Save the Children, and Swisscontact to advance sustainable and  inclusive development for children and youth in Lao PDR. 

Purpose of the Role 

To support LaoCYDA’s communications, advocacy, and visibility by amplifying children’s and youth voices. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Support creation and scheduling of content for social media platforms and LaoCYDA’s communication  channels. 
  • Assist in documenting project activities, events, and field visits through photos, short videos, and  written notes. 
  • Collect and draft stories, quotes, and testimonies from children and youth in a safe, ethical, and  consent-based manner. 
  • Support advocacy campaigns, awareness-raising activities, and public events related to child rights  and youth empowerment. 
  • Assist in preparing basic communication materials, captions, posters, and presentations. • Support basic photo and content archiving and documentation. 
  • Ensure all communications comply with safeguarding, child protection, and PSEAH standards. • Perform other communications and advocacy tasks as assigned by the Executive Director. 

Required Qualifications 

  • Student or recent graduate in Communications, Media, or related field 
  • Interest in child rights and youth empowerment 
  • Basic social media and writing skills
